SWEDEN | Day trip to Uppsala

Uppsala

Just 40 mins train ride from Stockholm, Uppsala offers one of the best sights to visit during autumn. It is home to the tallest and largest Cathedral in the Nordic region, Uppsala University and the Uppsala Castle. Uppsala Castle was built in 16th century during King Gustav reign as a fortress.

As we were staying in Kungshamra, the nearest pendeltåg station is Ulriksdal. The commuter train service (pendeltåg) is included in our SL concession however if you're travelling to Uppsala County, you will need to pay an additional ticket fee.

Museum

We tour around the city center briefly and headed for Uppsala museum. The city center was rather ordinary with departmental stores and supermarkets something Stockholm has plenty of.

Uppsala Cathedral

Uppsala Castle

We took a short and slow walk from the museum. The cool temperature and sight of orange maple leaves (since its autumn) made the walk really pleasant. You can still see the magnificent cathedral from the castle!

Botaniska Trädgården

Further down the walk brings us to the University Botanical Garden. We had a short break before we make our way to meet the seniors for a dinner in a famous Thai restaurant, Ahaan Thai.

Give it a try if you happen to drop by, authentic Thai cuisine - some heat to tide you over the cool weather
