Week in Bangkok
So I've decided to spend the weekend (3D2N) at Bangkok for a short getaway. Come to think of it, it has been quite sometime since I last visited the place of good food and shopping. I touched down in around 2 PM and decided to take a cab down to my hotel and I think it's certainly not a wise decision on a Friday afternoon because the journey took me almost 2 hrs. (Its definitely much faster using their MRT).
After the grueling long ride, I finally reach my place at aronud 4-ish and we decided to check out this place for dinner as recommended by aroimakmak.
The food was fairly decent, probably a 7/10
Talad Neon Night Market
We decided to head to Talad Neon Night market for zi char styled dinner. However,I thought that the variety of goods sold was actually pretty limited and not meant for me. Would go there for the good food but not anything else.
Food and more food
Being a fan of chicken rice back home, I cannot resist when chanced upon one and it turns out this place is one of the recommended place for chicken so I guess we're in luck! If I recalled correctly, it costs around 2.50 SGD per plate.
Chatuchak Weekend Market
If you're heading to Bangkok, you should never miss the weekend market because you can literally spend a day there. There's plenty of stalls selling food, fashion stuff, flea market etc at super affordable prices.
I think I bought a pair of decent sandals for about 12 bucks. We also had lunch at a roadside stall which costs us about $6 (we ordered an omelette, pork noodle soup and fried rice) and the best part? It tasted good af
Also when you're here in Bangkok, you cannot miss out the mango sticky rice. As it contains glutinous rice, I strongly suggest you leave some space after your meal for this unless you're like me who always have space for desserts.
ROAST Brunch Cafe
Located at Thonglor, the Commons, Roast is the place to go if you're looking for some high-end brunch place. We ordered their blueberry ricotta pancakes with earl grey crumble and lemon zest, truffle alfredo with crispy smoked bacon and parmesan (you seriously need to order this if you're a fan pasta + cheese) and a ROAST iced tea with lychee and rose blend.
It was a satisfying but expensive meal before heading back to the hotel and get ready for our flight back SG. Definitely enjoyed this trip as was a great getaway to blow off some steam from work with great food and cheap shopping.
