A Day in Tallinn

We took a weekend cruise trip to Tallin, Estonia with Tallink Ferry. The long awaited trip to Tallinn finally began. I still recalled the tense situation we had in the immigration regarding our student permit. Luckily everything turned out fine and we were just worrying for nothing. Anyway, the cabin can accommodate 4 persons (bunk bed style, retractable to save space) and is equipped with a shower facility.
Best part of the deal was it probably worked out to be around $16 SGD per pax for the cabin price which IMO is a huge bargain. We joined a local tour that last about 3 hours for a short history lesson.
The tour starts at the front of tourist office and its free. You pay tips at the end based on your satisfaction with the guide and no obligation required though I don't think there are any guides that are so bad they deserve nothing.

Alexander Nevsky Catheral

One of the attractions that caught my eye was the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. It is an orthodox cathedral built during the time when Estonia was part of the Russian Empire.
Notice the slight resemblance of architectural flavor to Saint Basil's Cathedral in Russia! I did not manage to visit the interior of this beautiful - I wonder how are the 11 bells arranged within, maybe next time

Kohtuotsa Viewpoint

If you want to get a high vantage point to view the overall setting of Tallinn's architecture, head over to Kohtuotsa Viewpoint.

After a day touring and some random walking, we settled down at nearby restaurant for some authentic estonian cuisine which I unfortunately forgot the name of the place. The rye bread was toasted so perfectly. However the moose steak was okay probably suitable for my Asian taste buds. It was a fulfilling meal and just about time to head back to the cruise returning to Stockholm. This trip had been planned for sometime but never really got the chance to execute sooner due to everyone's schedule to clear final presentation and assignments. We were probably just a few weekends away to return to Singapore after our stint in Sweden. It was a great one
