Swedish Lappland

Kiruna is just an hour flight from Stockholm Arlanda's Airport. We took SAS airlines and paid around $160 (Student fare). Temperature here is slightly off the charts (-5 to -15C) for a tropical Asian as it is located at the far north of Swedish Lappland. Our plan here was to do winter activities such as skiing, catching northern lights, some hiking and action on snow mobiles. They say the good time to catch the auroras are during the change of seasons where solar activity is quite high.

Upon checking into Järnvägshotellet Kiruna, we had a quick lunch at a thai place to catch some heat for the cold weather. We walked around the city and grabbed some Pizza before our sauna session in the hotel's premise.

Kiruna Rum & Vandrarhem

We checked in to our next accommodation at Kiruna Rum & Vandrarhem. It was spacious and had 1 bunk bed and 2 single beds which is great for a trip of 4. It also has a communal kitchen for your use. (Life saver for us as we prepared breakfast and dinner in this space to travel on budget)
I recalled there was ICA nearby or at least within walkable distance to purchase your grocery there

Abisko National Park Day Trip

We took a train ride to Abisko to explore the trails. You can head on to the visitor center for a quick lunch buffet and latest information on their tour packages. Accommodation is easy to find as most of the websites offer English as alternative language. You can also go to https://www.visitabisko.com/ for all your adventure needs.
