Easily one of the top places for clear beaches and awesome seafood

Day 1 | Check in and Explore

Our Airbnb accommodation was fairly near to the main bus terminal. The weather was really hot (coming from someone who lives near the equator) and we’re so glad that the apartment came with AC and wifi! It is also very near to all the beaches and a 10 mins walk is all you need to reach the first one. You can continue along the coastline to explore different beaches and I think one of the most popular ones are Bacvice and Žnjan City Beach. Also, they do not use Euros here as they have their own national currency known as Kunas so be sure to have some handy.

Along the way, you’ll also come across yacht parks. I believe these are being use by private boat owners and its a pretty common sight to see in Split.

Day 2 | Diocletian's Palace

One of the historical landmark that you will see when you’re in town is Diocletian’s Palace which was built for the Roman emperor centuries ago. I quite like the flooring and if you’re a GoT fan, i think you’ll like it here

Today, its bustling with tourist and shops while retaining the ancient architecture and ruins. Definitely worth checking it out when you’re there!

One of the things I enjoy doing while travelling is to do some hiking as a form of working out. (those calories from all the eating needs to be burned). We decided to check out Marjan hills. Depending on the trail, it can take up to 2 hours to complete the route but you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view at the end!

After the hike, we took a nice stroll along the port, accompanied by some palm trees and make our way back home for dinner. It has been a rather ‘productive’ day I suppose.

Day 3 | Day Trip to Hvar Island

If you would like do a day trip out of Split, you can consider heading down to Hvar Island which is about 60 mins via ferry. You can purchase tickets for Jardrolinija Ferry company. Always check the website for latest changes in pricing and schedule.

I’m not quite sure how we decided on Dalmatino Hvar restaurant but it’s got a pretty high review based on google. I ordered the breaded chicken and didn’t quite like compared to they others as I felt it was pretty dry. I was expecting a chicken thigh in form of our chicken cutlet tsk. The rest of the dish was great especially the squid.

Address:  Ulica Sveti Marak 1, 21450, Hvar, Croatia

After our lunch, we decided to take a short trek up to The Fortica Fortress where we’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the city of Hvar and its surrounding Pakleni Islands. There are shops as you reach the top of fortress and also an ancient prison but note that there’s no light so you have to really watch your steps as you descend the semi-spiral steps.

A rewarding view after burning all those calories! Today is the last day in Croatia before we take a bus to Mostar, Bosnia for a short trip. I really enjoyed my stay in Split especially the seafood and sights here. It definitely and easily a top choice to travel for a getaway in Europe.
